Bio

Mai Kari Hartvaag Zimbleman was born in Land of The Midnight Sun, in the valley of Saltdalen,  north of the Polar Circle in Norway.  She later moved to Oslo, the capital city of Norway..
Mai left for New York at age 18, and shortly thereafter headed for Southern California’s coastal regions where she lived and worked for many years.
She  later criss crossed the US driving from east to west, north to south with her sketchbook in hand.

She is greatly inspired by her childhood memories  of  Northern Lights flashing across the skies in winter followed by tropical warm summers, and  her work shows a great variety  from both counties she lived in.

Mai is also a commissioned portrait painter and has taught portrait painting at the City of Oslo Evening Academy. ( 1988/89)

 Her medium is oil.
